Welding - Advanced (Work on Qualifying Welds) without Gear Package

Previous welding experience is required.
Class runs Mondays and Wednesdays, May 6 to June 12, 2023, 5:30 to 8:30 pm (5 weeks).

Designed for students with previous welding experience. The Advanced course allows students to work on becoming qualified in specific welding processes such as MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Students choose to work on skills specific to their interests or need. Students learn to demonstrate proficiency in horizontal and vertical applications. Helmet and gloves are available for use.

Welding Technology I with Gear Package

Welding Technology I. Classes will take place Monday & Wednesday and will run May 6 to June 12, 2024 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm (5 weeks), 30 hours.
Includes your own welding gear. The package includes a welding helmet, a cap, MIG gloves, TIG gloves, welding jacket, weld cleaning tool, safety glasses and a gear bag for all of your equipment. Please indicate your size for a welding jacket (runs M - 3XL) by emailing careertraining@maplerun.org.

This course introduces four types of welding: AC/DC stick, Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG); and Oxygen-Acetylene. Students learn to demonstrate proficiency in horizontal and vertical applications. Oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting will also be covered.

AHA Heartsaver Adult/Children/Infant First Aid, CPR, AED

AHA Heartsaver Adult/Children/Infant First Aid, CPR, AED. May 8, 2024 for 3 hours, 4pm-7pm in the Northwest Career & Technical Center's Public Safety classroom.
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is geared towards anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.

This course is funded by a grant that covers the cost of the tuition (valued at $1,200). To reserve your seat, a fee of $245 must be paid in advance. This covers the cost of the textbook ($45) and the exam fee ($200).
In addition to the fee to NCTC, you will be required to pay the following fees directly to the entities that provide the following services:
- $13.25 for a background check
- $25 for a fingerprint check
- $20 application fee that is to be paid directly by the student to the Vermont Board of Nursing.

The program begins on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 and ends on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Classes will be held at NCTC on Tuesdays & Thursdays, from 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm, plus off-site clinicals (dates to be determined based on availability of facilities). You are required to complete a total of 72 classroom hours + 32 clinical hours for licensure.
**There will be no class on June 20 and June 25. In addition, NCTC observes the national holiday on July 4, and there will be no class on that Thursday either.**
This course focuses on safe and effective practices for care in a health care setting. Students learn the basics of assisting patients, body mechanics, ethics, communication, and prepare for the licensing exam. Students can take the written and skills LNA licensing tests in Franklin County or at another location in Vermont. Testing is administered by Excel.
